Project Life: Hello Fall

I am a big fan of white space and lightness in my Project Life album, but I love picking one color to focus on for my spread.  Since I cannot get enough of fall (and I had an awesome picture of our pumpkins printed out), I decided to run with the color orange and pull a spread together using fun shades and pops of that color.  Colors can be tricky to work with sometimes, which is why I've found that using shades of one color seems to work best.  This keeps the color consistent and helps add cohesion to the spreads.

I thought about changing up page protector sizes, but in the end I went back to a traditional design A because I already had a few 4x6 photos printed and on hand.  Design A is my go-to design and I find that I can work these sizes pretty quickly.  Don't you love when a spread comes together so fast and easy?!?

Since I was trying to bring pops of orange throughout my pages, I decided to use The Story Unfolds Journaling Card set from One Little Bird.  I love that this set has pretty pops of orange, but wasn't too bright or bold.  I also love the words on the cards, and that cute little pie graph chart!!

After I popped my journaling cards into place, I shuffled through my supplies to try to add in a little pop of kraft/brown.  I always feel like kraft helps ground my pages and adds a little more depth to my spreads, especially since white tends to dominate on my pages.   I also really love the way kraft compliments the pop of orange.  I found a stamped "hello fall" bag that we had used for a nature walk one day, so I trimmed out the stamped words and slipped that right inside a pocket.  I also added in a kraft pocket that I had in my stash and slipped in two tickets from a football game we attended recently.  Adding memorabilia and pieces of our life to my pages really is what Project Life is all about.

As you can see, I kept my spread pretty photo heavy (which has been very typical of my style this year).  Letting the photos take center stage makes putting my spreads together super easy!  Several of the photos I used had pops of orange in them, which helped to balance the two sides.

I used my typewriter to add my journaling onto my cards, photos and tags.  I have a serious love crush on the look of typed text.  I know handwritten journaling is much more personal, but there is just something about a typewriter font that makes me smile!!  (I do try to add in handwritten journaling here and there, but it is usually hidden in a pocket or lift up flap).

I kept my embellishments pretty simple and added in a few stickers, thickers and wood veneer throughout my page.  The One Little Bird cards are so perfect the way they are, that little embellishments are really even needed!!

And that's it!!  Another spread in the books!!
Have you ever experimented with one color or shade of a color in your Project Life pages??  Did you love the way your spread turned out??

  4. What typewriter do you use Stephanie? I am looking to buy one and while the vintage look is lovely, I find it types too faint, even with new ribbons. Would love an idea of the unit you use. Thanks!!
