January Project Life Album: Part I

I am so excited to be sharing the first part of my January Project Life album over on the Studio Calico blog today!!  I am having so much fun with this little book and I love that it really does hold every single bit of our lives from this month so far!!  And I promise you, putting this book together is so not complicated.  It may look look a lot of work because each page is a little different from the next, but the best part about this approach, is that I can work on a few photos at a time, or even just one photo and then be finished!!  I love adding in bits and pieces of our life, and you will see that I added that right into the book!

And I am loving using up all of my supplies!!  I even STAMPED using those amazing Alyra Alpha stamps I've been drooling over!  That's right....I stamped....in COLOR!  Ah...new beginnings!!  For my January book, I used most of the January kits from Studio Calico!!
The Project Life kit went so well with the pages, but the other kits worked out so nicely as well!  The silkscreens, stamps, papers and cards all make an appearance in this little book!

Because I love walk through videos, I put together a short video overview of my album.  I hope you will check it out!  In the video, I share with you why I love this approach so much, and how I'm making it work for me!!!

The full page photos, photo collages and artwork are my absolute favorite!  I really am enjoying this process so much!  It's brought life back into Project Life for me!

Here are a few photos, but you can see the rest in the video, as well as in the Studio Calico gallery.

So what are your thoughts???

  1. Stephanie! This is just SO BEAUTIFUL. I watched the video and every time you turned the page I was saying (out loud) "oh my gosh, wow." It's stunning. I too want to include more texture in my PL albums. Right now I'm working through our little guy's baby album (he's 9 months now - I'd love to get it done by his birthday!). But it feels a little clinical to me. I don't do any embellishment, but I think it's a great idea to include things that aren't behind plastic. Your video made me want to drop everything (well, maybe not the baby!) and get to work! Thanks so much for sharing :) I'm totally inspired.

  4. Great video!! I love this approach to memory keeping! in fact, I love that so many of you are taking things in your own way now instead of all traditional spreads or original PL . these are going to be treasures for the future!!

  9. It's amazing how you turned the boring plastic Project Life pages into something really fun and beautiful. I started last year my PL and I couldn't finish It, a full spread for a week was to much for me. I thought of doing It this year smaller but wasn't sure If It would be "makeable" for me even smaller, and your way of making It, inspired me a lot! Thanks for sharing and for the great ideas on each of your pages and pics.

  10. wow! really love your approach to PL... sort of like an art journal and definitely when not everything is behind plastic it seems so much more personal and touchable. I know you said that you were going to try out different sizes each month... it made me wonder how you organize all your various albums and minibooks that are differently sized. Just mish mash on a shelf? Thanks for sharing!

  14. I love this. I wanted to step away from the structure of 12 by 12 albums this year and was thinking of doing four seasonal albums but wasn't exactly sure of which direction to take (size, premade album, hand made etc?). Your album has been so inspirational and has given me the nudge I need to get started. Thank you.

  15. What font did you use for the bubbles quote? I've seen something similar on this print (http://www.shophooraytoday.com/you-wonderful-thing-you-art-print/#PhotoSwipe1405098754115) but can't find the font anywhere!
